Located in the quiet residential neighborhood of Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn, this project involved a 180 SF two- story extension to a single-family home to add new bedrooms and a redesigned kitchen. A seamless connection was created between the existing structure and the new extension, maximizing square footage for a growing family.
A full feasibility study was conducted to maximize the Allowable Floor Area Ratio (FAR) while complying with rear and side-yard setbacks. The structural scope involved extending the existing foundation and new slab on grade.
The design focuses on blurring the lines between inside and out. Foor-to-ceiling glass sliders open directly onto the new patio, flooding the deep floor plate with natural light. The result is an airy, open-concept kitchen and living space that feels significantly larger than its footprint.
